As the narrative continues, the Chronicler continues to highlight David’s successes, yet each time there is a reminder that the success is of the LORD
- 2: YHWH established him as king
- 2: YHWH exalted his kingdom
- 10: God promises to hand over the Philistines
- 11: God “bursts out”
- 15: God will march out to battle before them
- 17: YHWH caused nations to be terrified of him
What is also intriguing in this passage is David’s obedience. One chapter after moving the ark improperly, David is now seeking God’s counsel (v. 10, 14) and doing “exactly as God commanded him” (v. 16).
